Changing from one theme to another
-
Hi there!
My sister and I are getting ready to change from our current blog theme (Koi) to a new one (Imbalance 2). My question is this: when we switch to the new theme is there some buffer time when we can play around and make the new theme look good before it goes live? I’ve looked around and haven’t found any articles that talk about this and any help would be appreciated!
We’re also wondering if we can designate a specific photo to be displayed along with the post summary instead of a default one being chosen.
Cheers,

There is no buffer time. The switch takes place instantly and then you can configure the theme. You can, if you insist, make the whole blog private, then change and tweak the theme, then take it public again, but it will annoy readers.
As for the second question, I don’t know.

*sigh* Just as I had feared. We’ll make it work, but it is intimidating as we’ve put a lot of work into our blog and don’t have very much skill with making or customizing site layouts.
Thank you for answering, raincoaster :)
Yea the second question still stands. I’ve been reading about how to assign a custom graphic for the header image of a page but am still unclear about assigning images to go with specific post summaries. (i.e. the images that would appear with your posts on the main page of the imbalance 2 theme). Any insights about that process would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Featured Posts
The theme optionally allows you to promote sticky posts as featured image posts and display them below a post in single view.
Imbalance 2 — An image that works best with images at least 210 wide.Imbalance 2 displays the beginning of each post on the main page. As in all themes that display post beginnings, all HTML tags are stripped out; so no links, no formatted text, and no regularly inserted images. To display images on the front page, you need to set a featured image to each post, or copyand paste content (including image code) from the HTML editor to the Excerpt module.

Oh I see. So we can either copy the html code to include an image in the excerpt, or set our chosen picture as the featured page image on specific posts to have them display on the front page.
Thanks so much for your help, timetheif!
