Changing from wordpress.com site to .com site
-
hi there, I’ve had a wordpress.com site for a few years, I also have a .com site that I registered a while ago but have never had a blog on there (because it was hosting with another company who didn’t use wordpress at the time). I’d like to now use the .com site but ideally host it via the wordpress company as I like it and know how to use it. If I just upgrade to the £3 a month subscription, can I then use my .com site? Or is the £3 deal just to use my wordpress.com site without ads? Thank you.

Hi there,
Sounds like you have the personal plan and this does allow you to use your own domain name. There are two ways to go about adding your custom domain to your site. I have included links below to the relevant documentation.
1. You can transfer the domain over to WordPress who manage the renewals for the domain name directly through your WordPress.com account. https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/
2. You leave the domain name with the current provider and map the domain to your WordPress.com site. https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
Both options will work, just depends which would be easier for you. Let us know if you encounter any issues.
Good luck!

Hi @barbedwords,
you can use a custom domain on any of our paid plans but, bear in mind that, all our subscriptions are billed annually. We do not offer monthly payments at the moment.
