Changing from wordpress name to a 1 &1 domain name 'democratisingtheeconomy.com'
-
Hi,
I’ve just started to build my wordpress site, but prior to this purchased the above .com domain name from 1 &1. To use my .com that I purchased and get rid of the wordpress one I read that I had to upgrade. However, I’ve heard of conflicting costs. I don’t want ads and I want to us my own .com domain name. How much is this monthly one part of the site says $8.25 a month another say its $18 a year with my own domain. Please can you help?
Thanks,
Gillian

Hello Gillian,
The $18 you read about is to register a domain and map it for one year. Since you already have a domain, that doesn’t apply. To use your domain from 1&1 on WordPress.com, the cost is $13 for domain mapping. Ads will sometime show up on your site using that option. To remove the ads, select the Premium plan instead. That is the $8.25 per month (billed yearly) option you read about.
