A registered domain will cover your existing blog, you won’t loose anything. You can go to Store > Domains on your blog’s dashboard and follow the steps there.

Please take a look at the following guide before going through the process.

Let us know if you need any help.

    Hi Kardotim,
So am I Domain Mapping and creating a subdomain?
Or do I just complete the registration form from my Dashboard and pay the $18 and all will remain the same?
Will the people who follow the site still link to the new .com address?

All sorted, I’ll just register a custom domian and all will be transfered…..well I hope so anyway. See how it goes.
    Thanks for the links

    Hi

Apologies if this has been asked already

If I go premium and lose the ‘.wordpress’ in the domain name, will visitors who are used to typing ‘.wordpress’ still link through to the new domain, and where there are links to the blog on other sites containing ‘.wordpress’ will these still work?

    Many thanks!

Yes all the old links to your base /wordpress.com blog will still work –

@thelegocarblogger Both the registered domain name and the .wordpress.com address will redirect to the same site.
