Changing from wp.org to wp.com.
-
I have updated the nameservers in order to map my domain to WordPress.com. I need to know if it has been done. I can not find “store” in my blog with wordpress.org and if I choose “store” to buy a plan in WordPress.com the option never comes up, its like it not working.
I don´t know what else to do. I want to change from wordpress, org to wordpress.com and buy a Premium plan but is seems imposible.I need help please.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You registered your domain with GoDaddy, so you’ll have to follow these instructions to Map an Existing Domain to your wordpress.com site.
You can buy the domain mapping upgrade on its own, but if you are getting the Premium bundle anyway, then domain mapping will be included with it.
You should be able to find these options under the Store > Store tab in your wordpress.com site dashboard menu. To access your Store options, you must be logged in as the owner/admin of your site. Are you logged in with the correct username?
-
Dear Lettergrade, that is precisely the problem: I am logged in with my username and password and I can not see any store option in the dashboard. I have followed the mapping instructions but I get stuck when it asks me to either buy the mapping service or a bundle. On the other hand, I think I am logged in with the correct username since I have Access to the website and dashboard and comments etc. Am I right?

I need to understand why I can Access wordpress.com with a username and a password and from there Access my website with wordpress.org but I can not Access “store” option in the dashboard in order to buy an upgrade. What am I missing? Do I have to créate a new account in wordpress.com? What would be the ideal scenario where I can have the “store” option in the dashboard if I bought my domain with Godaddy and installed the WP from wordpress.org tool for blogging?
I hope I can get the help I need since I don´t want to have my blog supported by wordpress.org. I rather have all the services wordpress.com can give me since I am not a profesional and I don´t have time to find out what to do , how to make back ups, etc etc. i really don´t have time for those details.

Your wordpress.com login and your wordpress.org blog login (username and password) are two different accounts, and you can only buy services from wordpress.com when logged in with your wordpress.com account.
It sounds like you want to create a new wordpress.com site, fill it with your old wordpress.org site content, and then map your godaddy domain name to point to the wordpress.com site. Is this correct? I’m not sure which steps you have taken already, but I recommend you set up your whole wordpress.com site BEFORE you activate the domain mapping upgrade so that your readers aren’t being sent to a half-finished site.
Follow these instructions to create a copy of your old site at a new address on wordpress.com: Moving a Blog from WordPress.org
Once you’re satisfied that the site is set up the way you want it, you can activate a domain mapping upgrade while logged in with your wordpress.com account: Map an Existing Domain
Best of luck! Check back in if you have questions.

Dear Lettergrade, thanks for your response. I am following you instructions however when I click on the Moving a Blog from WordPress.org link and I write the blog address it says it already exists. As a matter of fact when I go to the link it says “Welcome back elfelipedemama”, so I get confused: is it recognizing my login or my blog? I am not sure what I have with wordpress.com.
Give me what you think about this. See? this is exactly the reason I need to get a service with all the support since I get confused easily and I can not give the proper support to my site if it requires my lack of knowledge…

Dear Lettergrade, I have found my blog in WordPress.com!! It doesn´t have any content but the Dashboard gives me the Store option. So, now I have to follow the instructions of Mapping a domain, right? Or should I build up the site first and then get the upgrade? Let me know what could be the best option.
Regards,
Arlyn

Dear lettergrade, I mapped the domain with out exporting the file from the old blog…Have I lost everything? I haven´t made any back up before. What can I do? I am so sad. I need to know what to do. Looking for your answer.

If you DELETED the old blog, you are out of luck. If you didn’t, the files are still there. You should be able to get back in via Cpanel or something.

Hi Raincoaster, I was able to find all the files. I just redirect the name servers back to the old registrar and I was able to export all files from the other blog to wordpresss.com.
Currently I am working on building up the site at WP.com first before pointing the name servers again to WP.com. However, I have found some problems:
1. Some of the pages don´t have the content I had written. I get inside the Post and I can see it at Text tab but not at the Visual tab.
2. I have requested all posts to be cathegorized under one category but instead of posts all I see are comments. Where are the posts?
3. In the front page I can found many of the posts I have written but no titles were imported. There are no divisións between one post and the other.
I check all the content on the old blog and it still there. I have exported again the content from wp.org to wp.com but nothing changed.
I appreciate if you can give me some ideas of what may be happening.
