Changing Front Page Layout with Yoko Theme

I am not a CSS editor; in fact, it not only confuses me, but scares me!

I have looked for a theme that has the default look I want, but I have been unsuccessful. I am happy with the Yoko theme, other than being able to customize the layout the way I want it. I’m hoping someone can help, and I *think* CSS may be the way to do this.

What I want is for the first post on the page (my latest entry) to show fully and any subsequent posts to be in summary format. I have looked for a theme that defaults to this format without success.

Is there any way I can do this using CSS?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Since all posts show full content on the blog page, what you can do is add the read more tag to all but your latest post, and then when you publish a new post, open up the previous post and add the read more tag. There isn’t anyway to do this automatically.

Thanks for your reply. I was afraid that might be the only solution, but since most of my posts are relatively short it doesn’t make sense to me to do it initially, and going back to do it after I’ve posted another entry just seems to be much too much work lol

Cheers and I’ll close out the thread :)

@Rich: In theory it’s (sort of) possible, but complicated. You could use the first-child pseudo-element to set the homepage so that the topmost post shows in full and the rest display only the first paragraph.

@peepsideshow: There is a theme that automatically does what you’re looking for: Chateau.
