Changing general settings email address

    I am a web designer and when I change the primary email address to the customers address, it sends the notification for validation to the customers email but once they click the link it takes them to the wordpress login page? How do we validate without them having to login to wordpress. And if I do add them as a user what do the do next once in the wordpress backend? Can I do this via the cpanel?
