Changing header graphic in Blix

I was able to set it up, but decided I wanted to change the photo I’d uploaded. When I try to put in a new one, it only seems to want to allow a sliver of the graphic – it won’t allow me to use the entire picture even though it’s only an avatar sized graphic.

I don’t remember it being a problem when I uploaded the first one. And now I can’t even seem to retrieve that one.

    Help?

My suggestion is to resize and crop the image to the exact size before even attempting to upload it. The crop feature here has been flakey for sometime now. You can find the exact size at appearance > custom header.

If you are trying to use a small picture, and expect it to have white space beyond its dimensions, then you’ll have to use photo editing software. When you crop a small image, without the extra canvas space, the crop function will only take a slice of your actual image and you’ll end up with a super-pixillated section/sliver of the small picture. Use Photoshop, Elements, or other image editing software to add the needed area to make your header. In Blix it needs to be: 690 by 115 px.

thanks, both. I resized the image to exact size but you have to click “crop photo” before it will post. It still just shows a slice of it, but it will do for now. Any knowledge on when the “flaky” crop feature will be repaired?

No idea, but in my opinion, it seems to be rather more touchy than necessary. There was a post on the forums here that making the image a pixel or two smaller than needed might work, but I can’t find it so I don’t know the details.
