Changing “Home” page
-
The info on our Home page needs to be moved to our “events” page and I would like the “about us” page to become the home page. Is this possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Settings > Reading: set “About Us” as your front page, set “Events” as your posts page, click Save Changes.

Does it take some time for the changes to take effect? I have
made the changes and see no results. I do not see the about us
page showing up first when you go to the site. -

Since it did move to the home page when i selected the “A static
page” I didnt think deleting the tab called about us would be
deleted from the home page also??? Sorry looks like I have made
a real mess! -
To get the contents of your page back, google “villahillscivicclub.com/about-us” and click “Cached”. (I’ve also saved it for you, just in case.)

Ok..got it,thanks so for all your help. I really apprieciate it.
Now I have gotten the “about us” page back and made it our home
page. But I also have a duplicate page called “about us”. If I
delete that page, will it will once again delete our home page? I
want to keep the “about us” info on the home page and get rid of
the other page called “about us”..just dont want to delete it all
again….uugghhhh -
First let’s clear something: you don’t have a “duplicate” or “other” about page, you only have one about page (and you must’n delete it!). “Home” is just the front of your blog: it’s a so-called dynamic page that can display either your latest posts or a static page (that’s what you set in Settings > Reading > Front page displays).
Now, to hide the About Us tab from your header, go to the page editor for About Us and turn it into a child page: Attributes > Parent > select any other page > click Update. (That’s because the header displays parent pages only.)
-
Two additional suggestions:
• The About Us page contains some wrong coding and some junk coding, probably because you’ve pasted it from Word or some other bad source. You’d better copy it from the visual editor and paste into the html editor to get rid of all that.
• In my opinion your (now) front page should have comments deactivated.

I have made the changes you suggested. Do you still see junk
coding? When I look at the website, I do not see anything wrong. -
No, your code is fine now.
(By the way, I hadn’t looked at the surface of your website, I had looked at its source code.)
