changing image captions display without CSS

  • Unknown's avatar

I do not have access to editing the CSS of my theme. I have a free account, and I’m using the theme Plane.

I have a couple of slide shows to display images on my pages. I’ve used the Classic editor/mode to configure these.

In the preview mode, the slideshows show up with a black background, which allows the white caption text to show up nicely. However, the live pages use the white background of the theme pages, and the image captions remain in white font, which means they don’t show up well.

I’ve looked up some options, but they all seem to require editing the CSS, which I don’t have access to.

Do I have any options for adjusting either the slide show background or the caption text within my page html?

(I tried a div tag, but that did not work) (obviously, I’m a novice at html and CSS)

I just wanted to update this with a better reference:

That is a page displaying a slideshow.

    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

On WordPress.com you cannot edit any HTML files or modify your theme’s CSS. You can bypass the theme’s CSS, but this requires an upgrade to the Premium, Business, or eCommerce plan. You can read more about that here:
