Google search string: Linking a PDF to an image site:en.forums.wordpress.com
search results > http://tinyurl.com/4ybwy7nYou go to your post editor, click the “Add an Image” icon, click “Choose files to upload”, select the image, once it’s uploaded click “File URL” if the URL doesn’t show up,* select size and alignment (also add a caption, if you wish), click “Insert into post”. Then (in the html post editor) replace the first URL of the image code with the PDF URL.
* You can go to Settings>Media and set “Default media links” to “File”, so that for future uploads the file URL will always show up automatically. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/insert-a-download?replies=9#post-249144
