changing margin width in tarski theme
-
Hi! I’m using Tarski and I would really love a 3 column layout. But with the current width this would look awkward, since there is already a lot of space wasted. So what I want to do as a first step is to increase the body width (currently 720 px) to something bigger. Is there a way to do that? Maybe by editing style.css or classic.css? Thanks.

Hi. Actually, there are 4 css files in Tarski. The style.css is – I suppose, coz I kinda suck at this – responsible for the general appearance of the theme. The other three are located in a separate folder (called styles) and you can choose one of them from a drop down menu inside the options page of the theme. They are named classic.css, polar.css and skyline.css., but I think they only implement minor changes like color and stuff.

And therein lies the problem. A version of Tarski is also used here — at wordpress.com, with blogs hosted by wordpress.
Yours is not and is different. You need to be at http://wordpress.org/support

I’ve actually done it. I’ll write a brief howto later, maybe it’ll be of use for someone with a similar desire.

Ok, so here I go again. As promised I wrote a short tutorial explaining what I did. Here it is: http://cynicalali.ro/blog/2008/05/05/modifying-tarski-theme-for-wordpress/

Well done. Thanks for sharing it and I hope you’ll also share at wordpress.org/support where self-hosted blogs are.
We have no access to .php files here at wordpress.com — just one css file — and so that can’t be done with our version of Tarski.
Some of us do have self-hosted blogs in addition to .com blogs, and I think it’s a good tutorial.
