Changing menu color

    Is it possible for the pages of the Sela theme to be center-aligned? All of the text on the pages seem to be left aligned…it kind of breaks up the clean theme.

    I’m not 100% sure I know what you mean, but try this and see if you like it better.

    .content-wrapper .content-area{
    	width: inherit;
    }

    Is there a way for me to get the link to my home (or front) page attached to my header so I can use my custom brand?

    There is a way, but it requires a bit of trickery.

    The first step is to turn your site title and site description back on. Then, make the title text a little larger and transparent with the code below.

    .site-title, .site-title a, .site-description{
    	opacity: 0;
    	font-size: 35px
    }

    This way you don’t see the extra title, but you can still click on it.

    Note: This only works where the transparent words are, so the edges of your logo still won’t be linked.

    It’s always ok to have another question, so if you think of something, don’t hesitate to ask.

    That did the trick with the header! So awesome thanks!

    Sorry I didn’t explain the “center alignment” very well.
    If you click on one of my text widgets at the bottom, it takes you to separate page. If you click on the first one, it will take you to a page with the title CHILDREN. See how the text on the page is left aligned and not centered? It’s the same for all of my subsequent pages to (I plan on having this CHILDREN page be a grid page for pricing of products)
    Any way to center align the title text of the page?

    Thanks again. I really appreciate your help!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Thanks for explaining again, that helped a lot.

    In looking at your Children’s page it seems the page content alignment is fine, it’s just the title that’s a problem. The following code will help with that.

    .entry-title{
    	text-align: center;
    }

    Hopefully, that will be better. If not, or if you have more questions, please let me know, I’m happy to continue to help.

    You’ve been one of the best happiness engineers I’ve worked with. :) That worked perfectly, thank you.
    And I know as I go along building the site, I’ll run into issues with more questions, so I’ll be sure to go back to this feed and ask because you’re awesome.

    Thanks again

    aww, you are awesome too, Picture Lady :)

    Hi there lizthefair!

    You know how you helped me out with centering all the titles of the pages? Well, as I’ve been building my site and adding more pages, the Child Pages I’ve been adding seem to be back to left-alignment again. (Check out Child Portraits and you’ll see what I mean)
    Any way to have all page titles centered? Thanks!!!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Laura!

    the Child Pages I’ve been adding seem to be back to left-alignment again.

    I looked at the child pages and see what you are talking about. The titles are actually still center-aligned over the content area on those pages, but the content area is smaller than it looks like it’s going to be when the page is empty. Could you add some of the child portraits to the page before we mess with the menu again?

    I’m happy to make any changes you want, but I think you’ll have a better idea of what works best once the rest of the page content is in place.

    Does that make sense?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yes absolutely. I’ll finish “building” the page layout I want and then I’ll contact you again if it’s still off.
    Thanks girl!

    Remember when I asked about possible deleting the white box of text on the front page all together? I had decided to keep the box but just resize it at the time, but could you give me the code to completely hide it just in case I wanted to utilize that option?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Sure!

    Here’s the code:

    .front-page-content-area .with-featured-image{
    	display: none;
    }

    Hey great :) thanks! Now I can see which I like better ;)

    So, I’ve added a bit more to my pages and I was wondering about a few things (again. sorry!)

    Check this page out -http://laurakathrynphotography.com/category/blog/personal-blog/
    Is there a way to add a sidebar to this page only??
    I’m worried the answer is no since this actually just a category, not an actual page but….I’d like for there to be a way for clients/readers to have a way of seeing an archive of recent blog posts, but I don’t want the side bar on all my other pages.

    I hope that makes sense – I don’t explain things very well sometimes :)

    Thanks lizthefair!!!

    Is there a way to add a sidebar to this page only??

    Let’s try this. Add the sidebar everywhere by adding widgets to your main sidebar and then we’ll hide the sidebar on the pages where you don’t want to see it.

    Once you have the widgets you want in that sidebar, let me know and I’ll help you remove the sidebar from the pages where you don’t want to see it.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Ok it’s been added :) Let me know how I can just get it to show up where my blog postings will be and how I can remove it from the pages where my collections and about me page are. Thanks!!!

    Thanks!!!

  • Unknown's avatar

    I changed the visibility options on the widget so that it only shows up on your blog page. Let me know if that takes care of it, or we need to try something else :)

    If it works, let me know that as well so I can give you more detail on what I did.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Well, I don’t see it anywhere now….I’m going through the different categories of blog posts but I can’t find the sidebar anywhere….

    should I create an actual PAGE for my blog with different categories maybe?? Because right now the “blog” is just a cateogry.

  • Unknown's avatar

    I see the widget on this page: http://laurakathrynphotography.com/category/blog/

    But I don’t see it on pages like this one:

    http://laurakathrynphotography.com/category/collections/children/

    Did I misunderstand what you wanted?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Oh ok I see it. If you actually click on the word BLOG from my menu, I see it now.

    Since I have sub categories of BLOG (featured sessions, to the client, and Laura Kate) Is there a way to see the sidebar widget on those pages/sub-categories too or no?

    And no, you did great – I just wasn’t clicking on the correct place :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    No problem, that gives us an opportunity to let you try adding categories for yourself!

    To choose which pages the widget shows up on, go the widget page and open the archives widget. It should look like this:

    To add more pages where the archives appear just click the add link. Two new drop-down boxes will appear. In the first one choose “Category” in the second choose which ever category page you want to have the widget. Note: only categories that have content will show up.

    Let me know if you run into any trouble with that!

  • Unknown's avatar

    No ma’am it looks great! You are an endless supply of knowledge – thank you!

    I really love what’s going with my site. :)

    Until I have another question…..
