Changing menu color

    I look forward to hearing from you again :)

    Well, I had another question in another forum but no one seems to be answering it.
    How can I take a slideshow (like the one I have setup on my my Newborn Page) and have the text on one side of the page with the images directly to the left or right of it? You see how it’s centered down below the text? I was wondering if CSS could change the alignment (and possibly the size since it will have to fit next to a paragraph of text)

    I’m going to work on this for you, but the solution might require better CSS chops than I have, so I’ve also moved your original question over to the CSS forum where our high-end CSS experts hang out. You’ll hear from one of us soon :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    Ok. Yet again, thanks ever so much :)

  • Unknown's avatar

    You’ve officially stumped me on this one. I’ve asked one of our CSS experts directly to take a look, so hopefully you’ll have an answer soon. If you still haven’t heard anything in a day or so let me know and I’ll follow up.

    Thanks for your patience!

    They’re looking into it for me right now so THANK YOU for your help!

    Is there a way to customer color with CSS? For instance, I was wondering If I was able to change the background color of say, posts, or pages. Also, when it comes to my main menu – Is there a way for me to change the colors of the drop downs to match the menu bar?
    Aaaaand, last but not least, how about the footer section. Any advice on changing up colors in any of these areas?
    It goes without saying – you’re awesome. Thanks so much for you help :)

    All of that should be possible; I’ll need a little more info to make it all work.

    Do you want all the posts to be one background color and the pages to be a different background color? Do you have an idea of what colors you want? You can pick photos using the tool linked below:

    when it comes to my main menu – Is there a way for me to change the colors of the drop downs to match the menu bar?

    This is also possible, but your menu has a transparent background right now, which might make the menu items hard to read. Would you like the background on the drop downs to match the green background instead?

    how about the footer section. Any advice on changing up colors in any of these areas?

    That is also possible, but the code really depends on exactly what you want to change. If you could let me know what changes you have in mind I will be better able to help.

    Well, this is what I know for sure – I would love for the drop down menus to be white but have the selection color (when the mouse hovers over it) be the same color as the green of the background (which is #91d6c4). If that works, we might have to then change the font color to something more gray (like my primary menu above the large home page picture) when the mouse hovers over a word within the drop down menu so it will show up.

    And as far as the footer area, I’d love for it to be the same color of light gray that my hover color is when my mouse hits a word up in my primary menu. I’m not sure if that’s even an actual color, or if it just goes transparent. I can give you a Hex# if you want me to, or you can just pick one you think would work and I’ll see if I like it.

    I think I’ll just leave the page and post colors alone for now – The white makes it look crisp and clean and I’ve already give you enough to work on lol

    Thanks for whatever you think you can do :) Ask me any questions if I haven’t been clear in something.

    This should help. Just replace <insert color> with the hex code for the gray you want.

    .sub-menu li a:hover{
    background:#91d6c4;
    color: <insert color> !important;

    }

    Here’s the code you need. Just replace the word “grey” with the hex code for the grey you really want :)

    .footer-widget-area{
    	background: grey;
    }

    Let me know how that works out for you!

    That worked out perfectly ;) Thank you!!

    Going back to changing colors of pages….is there a way to change only certain pages and not all of them? I’d like to maybe change the color of my collection pages and portfolio pages, but keep my blog post, my “about me” page, and my “say hello” and “FAQ” pages I would like to leave white.
    Is that a possibility to change only a few of the pages??

  • Unknown's avatar

    Also, what about widgets. Like my my front page sidebars…any ways to change the background color of those or no?
    Thanks Lizthefair.

    is there a way to change only certain pages and not all of them?

    This is possible. It’s another situation where it’s going to be better to change everything to the new color, and then change your static pages (about me, etc.) back to white. Let me know exactly which pages you want to be what colors and I’ll give you the code.

    Also, what about widgets. Like my my front page sidebars…any ways to change the background color of those or no?

    That’s also possible. I’m not sure it’s going to look exactly the way you expect, but let me know what color you want and we can give it a shot.

    You are getting pretty involved in the CSS stuff on your site, and have added enough codes now, that you might find it interesting, fun and useful, to check out our beginning CSS tutorials. You may find that with a little push you are ready to do some of this yourself!

    Ok. sorry for all the questions. :(
    I can try to figure it out per the tutorial now. Looks fun.
    thank you.

    I didn’t mean to give you the impression that I was unavailable to help you–I’m absolutely willing to help.

    Just wanted to make sure you knew you had options beyond waiting for me :)

    I’m reading it right now, so we’ll see what happens :) I don’t have a lot of time between my full time job and my photography to study, but I’m willing to give it a whirl.
