Changing my blog name not the title?

  Hello,

  I have created a blog however I am no longer happy with the name and need to change it. I am a little confused about how to do this I need to change the blog name and not the title but still want to use wordpress format.
  I have read the instructions but I dont understand what the redirect needs to be used for? I am new to blogging and am wondering if anyone can tell me what the consequences of changing my blog name and not buying a redirect would be? Would I loose my posts? and Would I loose followers? Or would they all remain without it? I am a little confused.

  Blog name IS blog title.

  Blog URL is not blog title.
