Changing my blog url

  The url I am currently using is nualamaryblog.wordpress.com, I realised after creating this that the reason just nualamary.wordpress.com wasnt available was because I had already created a blog with that url several years ago under a different email address. So I logged back into the old account and deleted the nualamary.wordpress.com as I didnt want to use it under that account but on my new one. I did this thinking that when I logged back into my current account I would be able to change the name from nualamaryblog to nualamary since i’d deleted the old blog so that url was no longer in use, I have followed the steps but it keeps telling me that the url I am changing it to is reserved. I know it isn’t because I am the person who used it previously and have since deleted it.. I have been trying since I deleted it to change my current blog with no joy.. If there is any way to resolve this i’d much appreciate the help. If I had realised this would happen I wouldn’t have deleted the blog with the nualamary url on my old account :(

  Hi nualamb,

  What you could try to do is to go onto your old account and follow the instructions below to change the name and make sure nothing is associated with that name (including the user account) to try and re-use the name again.

  This page on the support knowledge base should help you disassociate everything on your old account. If that doesn’t work, you may need to wait for staff moderators to resolve it.

  Thanks, unfortunately those things have not worked. Maybe when deleting I didn’t do it correctly but its gone now so I have no access to it. I have a feeling this is something that may need done manually from the backend that I am unable to access, so I may just have to wait..

  @nualamb – Site deletion is permanent and removes both the site content and the site address which cannot be recovered or reactivated. This is explained all along the multi-step process of deletion. Sorry for no better news. You’ll need to register a new address. https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  @justjennifer Thanks I did delete it in a bit of a rush so i’ll admit I didnt notice those warnings. I guess that’ll teach me lol Thanks for the help.
