changing my site address

  I would like to change my site address however it won’t let me do this as it says that the address is already in use. However, I was the one that previously owned this address but on a different account I don’t really use. Although I have changed it on the account I don’t use in order for me to use it on this account. What do I do?

  So does this mean that a changed site address can’t be used ever again? or just not reused on the same site?

  Hello thereelcarrieblog,

  The changed site address can never be used again.

  For the situation you describe — where you had the site address on another account and then changed it — that is when the former site name became unavailable.

  Here is another link about changing site names. Notice the screen shot that shows the warning about the blog name will be permanently retired.

  Hi there,

  What is the address you’re trying to use?

  If you deleted it more than 30 days ago, you won’t be able to re-use it.

  If you didn’t delete it, or it was deleted fewer than 30 days ago so we can still restore it, you will be able to use it, but you cannot change the address of an existing site to it, and you’ll need to move your content back manually instead.
