I am up for renewal of my WordPress Premium account, but I don’t think I want to renew. In fact, I am in the process of switching from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. If I don’t renew by the deadline, 4/1, will my website still continue to work as it does? Would there be any consequences? I believe the Premium level entitles me to another domain/website, but I don’t need that.

You’re currently using your domain credit to map the domain miriamseidel.com to your site miriamseidel.wordpress.com. There are a few options here:
1. You can choose not to renew the Premium bundle. That means your domain will not work at WordPress.com, and you will lose all of the upgrades here:
2. We can split up the Premium bundle and the domain. That way, you would only have to pay $13 for the domain miriamseidel.com to continue to work
Which method we go with really depends on how quickly you’re planning on moving to WordPress.org. Do you have a timeframe in mind?

I’d like to make the move soon, but have been having trouble getting in touch with the very small local company that hosts my site (to make sure they can support the needs of wordpress.org). Under the circumstances, that second option sounds good. How would I do that?

Since you’re moving, you can let the Premium bundle expire. The domain mapping is still good for another 7 months. If you need additional time on top of that, you can renew the domain mapping upgrade separately!
