changing my theme?

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to change my theme but there is no longer the preview button. There seems only to be the demo button but that doesn´t show the theme with my content.
Is there any other options? Is it because the version of wordpress.com has updated?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

You can preview themes through the theme showcase in your WP Admin dashboard:

Another question please! if you look at the link above you´ll see it takes you to a gallery in my website… but how do i edit the gallery in visual, not text? when I click on the gallery to select the edit tools are hidden under the toolbar. I tried toggling toolbar but still hidden… you can just see a tiny part of the edit ‘bubble’.
    Thanks!

Here’s what I see when I try to edit that gallery in the visual editor:

Can you take a screenshot of what you’re seeing and upload it to your Media Library?

Also, can you tell me browser you’re using and the version of the browser you’re running?

  • Unknown's avatar

I´ve uploaded a screenshot to my media library.
Yes, it seems that you see the page correctly but I don´t. I use google chrome… I can´t find the version… I installed it summer 2013…
    Thanks!

    Well yes, actually!
Image Title Attributes! I use to have mouseovesr working on my page´s bag catalogue but since a while they don´t work. I did contact the forum support before and got a reply saying ‘I´ll get back to you´but never heard any more.
The mouseovers are necessary for images in a gallery.
    Thanks again

    Hi there!

Can you give me a link to a gallery that’s having this issue? I just tested on my test site and the tooltips popped up for my gallery.

Do you also have a link to the thread where you mentioned this to staff before? I wasn’t able to find it in your support history.

thanks – here is the galllery link:-

tooltips don´t work for me on this gallery nor for any of the others under ‘catalogue’.
the thread from before won´t show up on my support history as it was via a colleague who helps me with the website. I´ve asked him to forward it to me.

Hi… my friend Xander sent me the thread but when I click on ‘view topic theme’ the link doesn´t work. So i´ve sent you this.

in response to the topic “Image Title Attributes”:

    Hi there!

The images have an alt attribute set, but the title attribute is empty.

Ideally, alt attribute is supposed to be an alternative for the image for browsers and situations where the image itself can’t be loaded. It is also meant to be used by search engines as descriptions of the image.

The title attribute is meant to be used by browsers to use as a tooltip displayed on hover.

Till recently, browsers would even display the alt text, but have stopped recently and only show the title attribute.

You would have to add the title attribute to the images in the media library, as well.

Although inconvenient, it would be useful to have both of them and use different texts according to the intended purpose.

Do let me know if you need more help with this.

    Best

Hey there! Thanks for that link. I was able to find your previous support thread.

The title attribute is only missing from the thumbnail style gallery and this is due to a core change that happened a while back. We don’t have any plans to change this.

Ultimately, you shouldn’t rely on these tooltips for important information. Not all browsers treat them the same way, and readers using site-readers will often not see the title attributes at all. A better option is to further utilize the captions. I can help you style your captions if the look of the captions is what’s keeping you from using them fully. :)
