Changing my URL name
-
Hi, I have an odd question/request. I would like to change my website (URL) name from http://www.kurtborne.com to something else. Is that possible?
What I am trying to do is change the URL of my site (and the theme/contents). However, I want to keep the style/format and much of the contents of my current blog. In other words, I am trying to avoid having to recreate a new blog from scratch. Like I said, I want the same layout/format and much of the same content on my current blog, but all under a different URL name. -
Hi there,
You can always register a new domain for your website. To get started, you can go to Store > Domains in your dashboard. Enter the domain name under Add a Domain and then click Add domain to blog. You can follow the instructions on the screen to complete the domain registration process.
You are also welcome to go back to using your free WordPress.com address (ending in .wordpress.com) at any time. To do this, go to Store > Domains in your dashboard, click the circle next to kurtborne.wordpress.com, and then click Update Primary Domain.
Changing the URL of your site will not affect the content, so you can safely switch between your free WordPress.com address and custom domains without having to worry about recreating your blog or its content. If you have any questions about this, please let me know!
