Changing name servers and website
-
I have chosen my domain name through wordpress and made it my primary domain. Now I cannot see where to change the name servers to NS1.wordpress.com and NS2.wordpress.com since this does not appear in my domain management panel.
Also I am slightly concerned that what keeps appearing when I click on my domain name is a different website called Hidden Treasures T-Shirt Co!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You do not appear to own that domain, that’s the problem. What does it say on your dashboard Domains page?
-
If you mean the ‘My Domains’ page I have the hidden treasures.com as my primary domain with the hiddentreasuresdotorg1.wordpress.com as the wordpress domain to which this is mapped. Confirmation receipt also shows hiddentreasures.com as the domain mapped.
-
Found another dashboard! I seem to have four wordpress blogs
hiddentreasuredotorg1 – address hiddentreasuredotorg1.wordpress.com
Hidden Treasures – address hiddentreasuresdotco2.wordpress.com
Hidden Treasures – address hiddentreasuresdotco1.wordpress.com
Hidden Treasures – address hiddentreasuresdotco.wordpress.comThe last three do not appear on the My Domains page where mapping the primary domain happens.

Hi!
Just to clarify, let’s recap the current sites and domains on your account.
Site: hiddentreasuredotorg1.wordpress.com with domain hiddentreasures.com
Site: hiddentreasuresdotco.wordpress.com with domain hiddentreasures.org
Site: hiddentreasuresdotco1.wordpress.com
Site: hiddentreasuresdotco2.wordpress.com
Did you want all four blogs on your account? Or, alternatively, did you want hiddentreasures.org and hiddentreasures.com to be on the same site (show the same content)? Once we know what sites you want to keep, I can help you simplify your account a bit.
In regards to your domains, the name servers for both domains are pointing elsewhere. You will need to login to the registrar (where you purchased the domains) and point them to WordPress.com following the steps here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#how-to-change-your-name-servers
Can you give that a try?

OK – I thought I purchased the domain through WordPress – I certainly didn’t go to another site! Therefore who is my registrar? I have been trying to locate where to change the name servers but without success.
I thought I purchased hiddentreasures.com – so I don’t understand how it then let me map the hiddentreasures.org. How do I know which one is available and is mine? I only want hidden treasures.org if possible.
I only want one site and am not quite sure how I ended up with four!
Sorry, lots of questions from an absolute novice!

Not a problem at all! We’ll get this sorted out. First, let’s figure out the domain situation. Unfortunately, both hiddentreasures.com and hiddentreasures.org are already purchased by someone else. This is likely why you couldn’t register the domains, only map them. WordPress.com saw that the domains were already owned by someone else and therefore couldn’t register them again. I’m afraid unless you purchased the domains elsewhere, you will not be able to use either one.
The good news is that hiddentreasures.co is available. Would you be interested in using that domain instead?
-
Yes please – I am fine with hiddentreasures.co.
And just one blog please – I am obviously easily confused!
-
No problem! How about this?
1. I’ll remove all sites from your account except hiddentreasuresdotco.wordpress.com
2. Then, we can register hiddentreasures.co on that site.
Does that sound alright? Just reply back to confirm!

Done! You should only see one site on your WordPress.com account (hiddentreasuresdotco.wordpress.com). Can you try following the steps here to register the domain hiddentreasures.co?

You are a star – everything worked as it should do this time. I have changed the primary domain and changed the name servers so hopefully that is now it – I can get on with creating now! Many thanks for the excellent service.
