Changing Order of Pages at top of site
-
I updated a page and, in doing so, it moved to a different location along the top of the site.
Is there a way to order them in a specific order? I’m not sure why it moved – it’s original location was best.
Thank you!
Cathryn.

Pages are usually ordered by page title, i.e. alphabetically. If you want a different order, go to Manage Pages, click on each page name and assign them page order numbers, Save, then go to Design > Widgets, click on Edit Page Widget, select Sort by page order, Save.

Assigning order numbers to pages will only sort the pages that are listed on the sidebar. I think Cathryn is asking about the order of the pages at the top of the site, which is not controlled by the page widget.
I actually wanted to ask the same thing: pages that are excluded from the Pages Widget will only appear at the top – how do you sort those?

It will order the pages at the top of the site by going to manage pages, and following what panaghiotsadam stated; minus the widgets part, cuz that is for the sidebar.
-
Then again, what is at the top and what is on the sidebar depends on the theme you use: e.g. the theme I use (ChaoticSoul) has nothing at the top and no pages excluded from the sidebar, while other themes display all pages at the top (and others have no sidebar). So, Cathryn and antigoldgreece, which themes do you use and what pages are excluded from your sidebars?

i am using Vault 9. Yes, I am asking about pages at the top of the site which are controlled under ‘manage’ not widgets. But I ‘ll check if I can order pages. thanks!

In the manage area, if you click on the individual page, at the very very bottom, there was an option for ‘page order.’ it says they are usually alphabetical. Anyway, that worked. thanks very much!

I am using Cutline. I have excluded certain pages from the sidebar and have them appear only at the top of the page. I gave the sidebar pages numbers 1-9 and then I gave a different set of number 1-5 to the pages on the top.
After days of frustration I finally have my pages in the order I want!Thank you very much!
