Changing Page & Post Title case

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello, and HELP! I’m trying to remove the text transform for post & page title’s, so I can have both upper & lower case letters. I also want to change my post’s side-tab color to match the upper menu tabs’ color, and the text to be white up top (I’ve customized what populates that section to say “Biodegradable Products”) and a medium gray #B3B3B3 below (the word “By” and the site title) where the site name shows in the tab). Lastly, (thank God, right?) I would like the site name (on the post side-tabs) to read HudsonChemicals; not hudsonchemicals. Can any (or all) of this, be done? THANKS!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Here you go.

    .entry-title {
        text-transform: none;
    }

    Hey! Another day, hopefully just one other question. Lol..I’m actually just not digging the font, for those titles (page & post). Is it possible to make them in Impact, like the sidebar’s category drop down titles (but still auburn), and leave the body text as is?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Impact might be a little scrunched, for large text areas. Is there another thicker or bolder font I could use? Possibly the current one, just bold?

    The post/page titles are in the same font as the widget titles. this is the font stack declared for both.
    Oswald,Tahoma,Geneva,sans-serif
    There is a difference in font weight between the two. Add the following which sets the entry titles (page and post) to the same font weight as the widget titles.

    .entry-title {
        font-weight: 700;
    }

    That’ll work..Thanks!

    Had trouble matching the title drop shadow, with the background, and couldn’t adjust it; without changing everything (color-wise). Today it seems to match. Freaky / Awesome. Just wanted to say, that. HaHa..Have a good one, Man!

    Well, sometimes the web is wacky. ;P

    Glad it is sorted out. Let us know if you have additional questions.

    Hey, thesacredpath. I’m running into a dilemma, of sorts, that I somewhat anticipated from the beginning. I’ve added several category drop-downs, and labeled them by industry (for maintenance products, that would specifically be applicable to them). I’m seeing that every category will show, when you click the dropdown. And when you’re in a search, the category you’d selected pops up in every search field. How can I limit which categories show under these, per individually titled category search? Am I actually able to?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Some redundancy is unavoidable, because some products do cross category lines, but I’d like to minimize it, if I can. Determining, on an individual basis, which products populate under a category.

    Tried to make products drop down by tag, then by category, but the industry listing labeled “Production & Manufacturing” disappeared from the sidebar in both scenarios. Have them categorized, and tagged, as I understood things to work, they’re just not. Lol

    Happy Sunday! I’m seeking a lot of guidance, and hope it’s cool. I’d also like to add a line to the CSS for my top left container logo, so it’s a clickable link to hudsonchemicals.com home. I’ve tried some code, I thought would accomplish it, but it didn’t work.

    Figured out how the category drop down tags, page sidebar visibilty works. Thought it was how I could make them, custom lists. Nope. Lol

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m seeing your logo as clickable right now, so I assume you got that taken care of.

    It also looks like you have the categories thing working and have the items in the sidebar working as well, or have I missed something on that?

    If you are wanting to make some redundant things disappear from parent categories, we can usually do that with a bit of CSS trickery. If you can explain further on that, I can get you lined out on doing that.

    Hey..The logo I’m referring to is on the top left, inside the menu container. Just want to give it, a little purpose. As far as the category dropdowns, I’m trying to have each one (Production & Manufacturing, Building & Construction etc.) display only those categories that apply to that particular industry. Like I have degreasers I don’t want to be visible, in the Nursing Home & Hospice dropdown, and Green Cleaners that don’t belong in the Production & Manufacturing dropdown. That sort of thing. Some redundancy is to be expected, as certain products do cross categories, but I’d like to eliminate complete repeat drowdowns; if possible. Thank you, Sir.

    Also, still hoping I can get the mobile menu dropdown to populate under the (now) right hovering menu tab. It currently pops up, right over the upper-left container logo I’d like to activate as a link to home. I mainly hoped to have that active, for mobile, rather than just being a dead image there. Probably not that useful, just for the click-happy folks.

    Happy Thanksgiving, to ya!

    Making the logo at top left clickable is not something that can be done with CSS since CSS is a styling document used by the browsers to style and position the elements on a web page. It cannot be used to link an image to a web site.

    On the menu issue, there is a “left” value set so we need to cancel that out (sort of) by setting it to “auto” and then we can specify a “right” value. I’ve also included a top value to move the menu down below the menu toggle and align it with the blue line.

    .main-small-navigation ul {
        left: auto;
        top: 68px;
        right: 20px;
    }

    On the categories, are you talking about in the dropdowns in the right sidebar? If so, there isn’t any sort of unique css class or id we can use to limit the items in that dropdown.

    What you may want to consider is creating custom menus for each of those categories and then using Menu Widgets in the sidebar. With Custom Menus, you are in complete control of what goes into them.

    If I’ve misunderstood the categories issue, please let me know.

    Thanks for the detail. I’m sure you can tell, I’m just learning. I appreciate your patience.

    The mobile menu adjustment didn’t seem to work. I tried a couple of different mobile browsers. It did make it drop down and to the right (slightly), though.

    I’ll look into the sidebar change, to add custom menus (instead of categories). Didn’t see that option, or get it at the time (maybe). Do you mean that I need to create menus (like the main top menu, in the Menus section), then use a widget option that adds those to the sidebar? Just want to be clear.
