changing page slug

  Dear all,

  jesterday I started a blog (see: runinjordan.wordpress.com) and setup various pages. works greate and people like it. today i wanted to apply some changes to my pages. as i gave the page title a different name i also wnated to change the page slug. but this doesn’t work.

  example: (see ‘event schedule’ page)
  at first this was called ‘race schedule’ so the page slug was ‘race-schedule’. today i renamed it to ‘event schedule’ and also changed the page slug to ‘event-schedule’.

  comments are all off

  this definitely does not work. i had to rename the page slug back to the old name, then it worked again. I also tried to delet and rebuild the ‘event schadule’ page but to no availe. i tried the same with other pages that i need to rename – same problem.

  has anyone an idea what i did wrong and how to get it working?

  Please explain what you mean by “it didn’t work” It didn’t work as in the link produced a 404? It didn’t change the URL of the page? etc.

  You do know that by page slug, they mean what shows up in your browser URL bar, right?

  ok sorry. you are right it produced a 404. reveral refresh didn’t work either.

  the link shows properly. ‘drmike’ i set this page again onine have a look at the last item ‘_event schedule’. page slug is ‘event-schedule’ with comments off

  now that is strange :(
  I created a new page ‘media’ (with page slug ‘media’) with a small info in it. but i get a 404. the first time i write the page slug myself, then i deleted tha page again as i got a 404 and recreated it without page slug. still getting a 404. please visit ‘runinjordan.wordpress.com’ to see it.

  any help?

  I am also having a problem with the page slug. I replaced the page slug name, now my theme formating has disappear – only white background. I want to rename the page slug back to the same name but I can’t remember what it was? Can anyone help?

  I don’t suppose using the back arrow works?
