Changing Page Title Color in Shoreditch
-
Hi, I’m trying to change the color of my page titles (“Welcome,” “Contact”) in my website. I’m using Shoreditch, and I can’t seem to figure out the CSS code to fix it. I’ve tried looking in the forums, but I haven’t found anything pertinent for this theme. Can anyone help? Alternatively, I’m also interested in leaving the color but making the text bold. How would I do one or the other? How would I do both? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, are you talking about the page titles that overlay the featured images, or are you talking about the navigation menu at the top?

I’m talking about the page titles that overlay the featured images. In reference to bolding the word, I know how to find the bold function, but it makes both the page titles and the words in the navigation menu bold, when I only want to affect the page titles. My main problem is that I’m using black and white illustrations for the featured images on both my Home/Welcome page and my Contact page, but because the words “Welcome” and “Home” on top of these images defaults to white, it’s hard to read them. I just need some solution for this, and all I could think of was either bolding only that word or changing the color of that word.

Hi there,
You can use the code below to change the color of the title and make them bold as well:
.entry-hero .entry-title { color: #000; font-weight: bold; }The color can be changed from #000 (Black) to anything you like. You can use this online tool to find the hex code for any color : http://htmlcolorcodes.com/color-picker/

Okay, so I’ve used that CSS code, and it works in the customizer. However, whenever I leave the customizer and try to preview my website, nothing has changed. I’ve tried giving it some time, logging out and back in again, viewing it while logged out as opposed to logged in, and I’m not sure what else to do. Whenever I go back to the customizer, it’s correct. I saved and published it when I first input the code, so it says it’s saved. Am I doing something wrong?

hello mollykprter,
Here what i’ve done to modify almost everything related to my site easily.
Try to install the SiteOrigin CSS plugin. Here’s the link. https://wordpress.org/plugins/so-css/
After install and activate go to the SiteOrigin CSS editor, paste in the specific url of your website you want to change, click on the section and make adjustment using the user friendly panel at the right side. then save.
hope this help.

@mollykporter : The CSS code seems to be working fine on your site. The titles are now bold and in white. Is this not the expected result? Let me know so that I can suggest alternatives.

@deskroid: the problem is that while it looks correct for me in the customizer (white, bold), every time I try to preview the site or sign out and view the site, the words aren’t bold anymore. The same happens when my boyfriend, who hasn’t signed in to wordpress on any of his devices, visits the page. I’ve just changed the privacy settings to public, so maybe you can see what I mean. It’s <mollykporter.com>.

Actually, deskroid, maybe I could add you as an authorized user? I have personal information up that I wasn’t planning on making public for very long. Or you could tell me when you’ll be near your computer, and I can make it public in that time frame.

Ok. It looks like the theme’s default CSS is overriding this code. You can use the Customizer and increase the font weight from there under the Fonts tab. But, this will make all the Headings on the site to go Bold as well.
