Changing Payment Currency

    Hi!
I was in India when I created my blog but now I have settled in Mauritius. I would like to change the payment option from INR to MUR. Is there any ways to do so?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hello there,

It’s not possible to make a purchase in MUR.

Is there another currency that’s of interest?

    Oh ok.
In this case, I would like to know whether it would make any difference, if at all I change the currency?

  • Hi there,

The biggest difference is that your bank/credit card company might charge you FOREX fees if the currency you pay in is different from the currency your debit/credit card is issued in. So if you still have an Indian bank account/credit card, I’d recommend you leave your account set to that currency.

Otherwise, the default currency for accounts based in countries where we don’t support the local currency is US$ – in other words, had you created your account while in Mauritius, that’s the currency that would have been selected. If you want, we can switch your account to that instead.

(Keep in mind that changing currencies will also change the amount you’ll actually pay for a plan, both due to currency fluctuations, and due to localised pricing for our plans in some countries.)

    Thank you for the information.
I still have my Indian debit card but I have no means of recharging it and that is the main concern for me.
However since I am able to receive cards from my bank in different currencies here, I would like to change it to Euro.
    Is it feasible?

  • We can change your account currency to Euro, yes. I’ve made that update for you, and you’ll now see prices for our upgrades listed in that currency.
