Changing post title without affecting url
-
I want to change the title of an old post but do not want the url to change. If I amend it will the date change?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I don’t think modifying the title on an already-published post changes the URL, so long as you don’t unpublish the post first. Even if it does, we should automatically redirect any visitors to the old link to the new one.
But you can also manually edit the post slug – the last part of the URL that comes after the date – so if it changes you should be able to just change it back, and then update the post again.

The date will not change unless you actively modify the publication date of the post. But there also we do try to automatically redirect the original permalink to the new one when you do change it.

Thanks so much. Changed the title and it didn’t change the url. Good to know as updating quite a few old posts right now.
Didn’t know about the redirects – much appreciated. -
