changing posts from private to public editing feature?

  I am changing many of my posts from private to public. How do I get the posts to then not show up as new posts, stop them from emailing the “new” posts to email subscribers?

  It’s come to our attention that those using the Google reader will be receiving the updates but those using other feedreaders won’t.
