In general, I would suggest ensuring that each blog post has an assigned featured image:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/As in the guide linked above, you add a featured image to a blog post while you’re creating or editing the post.
After that, you can use the Site Editor to change the layout of your site, so you can decide where/when a post’s featured image shows up. For example, if you want the featured image to show up in a list of your posts, you’d be going to the Site Editor in Appearance > Editor (beta) in order to ensure that the template which shows all your posts includes a “Post Featured Image” block inside the Query Loop block.
