changing primary domain

Thanks Alex. That was the problem. You are always so helpful
Do you have any suggestions about how I get in touch with register.com ? I have now sent 5 emails and rung twice but can’t get through.
Have any other people that you know had my problem with them ?
Many thanks
Jesd

Hi Jess,
It’s probably best not to create more email threads. Some support systems make it difficult to navigate users with multiple requests, so you might be unintentionally harming your chances of getting answered with too many emails. If you’d like to continue trying phone, that may be more advisable.
In the meantime, I’ve tried looking at a few other domain setups with Register.com and have attempted a new MX record setup.
Would you mind trying other test email in a couple hours?
Best,
-Alex G.

So sorry – but my cookies are now enables – I checked as you suggested, but I still get nothing when I click EDIt next to my domain.
Any other suggestions for me ?

Hi Jess,
Is this happening only in Safari, or in all browsers? If just in Safari, did you recently add any extensions or change any settings?
Have you been able to test the new MX record setup?
Best,

Email still doesn’t work. Mail is clearly getting there as it redirects to (email visible only to moderators and staff). But I can’t send from my (email visible only to moderators and staff) email account.
I tried Firefox and iPad and had the same problem that edit won’t open up. The only change I made was to upgrade to premium.

Hi Jess,
Apparently we’re seeing the edit button issue from some users when they visit the “My Domains” page from another page, but it works correctly when visiting directly or with a force refresh.
Could you visit your My Domains page, force refresh (Cmd+R), and then see if the Edit Domain button functions?
Could you also try clicking this link to directly visit your My Domains page:
https://earsinbalance.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Let me know if either or both of those work to enable the Edit Domain button.
I’ve also sent a test email to your (email visible only to moderators and staff) email address. Would you please login using the Register.com webmail at mail.earsinbalance.com and let me know if it arrives there?
Best,
-Alex G.

Good news – both suggestions above worked and can access my EDIt button. Thanks
Bad news – email not working.
I really appreciate everything you have done, but I don’t think you can help any more with this. I can’t get a response from register.com and it costs far too much to ring and be on hold.
I may have to give up on my emails which is a pain as i paid for 3 years !!
Thanks again
Jess

PS
Did you get a bounce when you emailed (email visible only to moderators and staff) ?
I get:
The following message to <(email visible only to moderators and staff)> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 – Unknown address error 550-‘5.7.1 <(email visible only to moderators and staff)>… Relaying denied: You must check for new mail before sending mail.’
Reporting-MTA: dns; mail06.syd.iprimus.net.auFinal-Recipient: rfc822;(email visible only to moderators and staff)
Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0 (permanent failure)
Remote-MTA: dns; [64.29.145.41]
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 5.1.0 – Unknown address error 550-‘5.7.1 <(email visible only to moderators and staff)>… Relaying denied: You must check for new mail before sending mail.’ (delivery attempts: 0) -
Finally a response (I contacted them on Facebook !!)
I made the changes to CNAME and MAX, but can’t seem to change the email bit
It points to mx05.register.com and mx06.register.com.
Given the email below – should it point to mx07.register.com ?
thanks
Jess

Subject: [tkt:2120568] – Email IssuesDear Jessica Blakeley,
Thank you for contacting Register.com, a Web.com company.
We apologize for any inconvenience and delay caused.
It appears the DNS settings which were changed for earsinbalance.com with respect to email were for a different Register.com email platform. Here are the settings required for Register.com email on earsinbalance.com to work:
CNAME:
mail.earsinbalance.com points to webmail05.register.com
MX:
mx07.register.com High Priority (0)

Hi Jess!
This is such good news!
I really apologize for how long this took. DNS records can be a really pain sometimes. :)
Glad Register.com was able to supply the information and that it all works. Also that the Edit Button is working!
Really, all around happy this all got sorted out.
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help in the future, and thank you so much for your patience (and perserverance.)
Best,
-Alex G.
