Changing profile settings to point to default blog site
-
Hi there. I have two blogs under the same profile. I would like my default web address (the one that’s shown in my profile) to point to my new (primary) blog, Literary Gadabout. Right now it’s pointing to my other blog site (a private site). I’m hesitant to tinker with the account username and website edits for fear of somehow losing the private blog site. I became a bit timid with the four blog address change options presented in the “change username” steps. I’m not sure which option would keep both existing blogs in tact. Suggestions? Cheers.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You should still be able to see your private blog once you log in; it’ll be on your admin bar, underneath your name in the drop-down menu. You can change the website listed on your profile so it links to whichever one you want.

Do you mean that you want the URL connected to your username to be the “Gadabout” blog? If so, go to users > personal settings and in account info section at the bottom, put the URL of the site you want linked to your username in the “website” field.

RIght on. Thanks guys. For some reason the “website” field was grayed out yesterday, but I had no problem changing it today. Perfect! Now to change my username. This is where I”m a bit stumped. SInce both blogs already exist, can i simply change my username, select the fourth option, “No matching blog address”, and I’m good to go? No loss of blog data or access? Thanks again in advance :)

Why not just change the “display” name at users > my profile instead of changing the username? The “display” name will show up as “author” in your blog and on comments you make and such instead of your username. See “display name publicly as” in the following link.

Helpful article. Thank you! I was wondering why my display name wasn’t coming up when I posted to this forum. Good to know that the display name WILL be prominent on all blog posts, comments, etc. and that the username only shows up when posting to forums. I was just hoping to change my username so that it reflects my more professional blog. No big deal in the end… Thanks!
