When you purchase a domain to cover your WordPress.com domain, any links to your WordPress.com domain will still work.
-
And all blog will still work, nothing will be deleted or different than before, except no more wordpress.com?

Yes, that is correct. Your content will be exactly where it is now and all that will change is the old URLs. When clicked anywhere they are found on the internet and in search engine results they will seamlessly redirect to the new domain URLs.

I have a different problem but in this category, so I hope you’ll see my question.
About 15 months ago I moved my blog http://www.burntmyfingers.com from an external server to wordpress.com and purchased the custom domain upgrade so I could keep the same url. Now I want to change it back. I have followed the migration instructions and exported the .com content as xml. The old blog still exists on my external server so my thought was to delete its WP database, leaving the admin files intact, and import the .com content.
However, when I go to “my sites” in the admin panel on wordpress.com there is a red triangle next to burntmyfingers.com and when I click it it says “this site cannot be accessed”. I fiddled around and found a screen that says “your Jetpack may need to be updated” but I can’t access the external site’s wp-admin to update it.
What to do? I’m guessing I can edit the domain under https://burntmyfingersdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains to stop redirecting but don’t know how to do this.
