I need to change the email address associated with a domain hosted at wordpress.com and I got an email that says it will take affect after a “period of time”. How long does that take?
It’s been about 24 hours since I submitted. Please help and give me an idea how it takes and why it takes so long.

What exactly are you speaking about? Are you referring to the email address in your account settings ( https://wordpress.com/me/account/ ), the email address in the domain contact details or an (email visible only to moderators and staff)? If one of the latter two, what is the domain?

No, the email address associated with my domain gethiredrdh.com
I need to update the phone number for that registered domain also, but until I get the email address changed I can’t transfer the domain. The email address I used to create the domain ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) no longer exists and so I need a working email to transfer it, which is why I want to change it to: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

There has been a recent change in ICANN policy which requires any change in contact details on a domain to be verified via both the old and new email address, so our registrar won’t update it until the verification link sent to the old email has been clicked.
I’ve emailed our registrar to find out if there is any other way to change these details. I’ll let you know once I hear back from them.
You should also be aware that updating these details will most likely cause them to place a 60 day transfer lock on your domain, so you won’t be able to transfer it out immediately.
