Changing site admin email address not sending confirmation email

    I’m trying to change the Admin email from the default ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ to my desired email address and WP says ‘This address is used for admin purposes. If you change this we will send you an email at your new address to confirm it. The new address will not become active until confirmed. There is a pending change of the admin email to (email visible only to moderators and staff). Cancel’ (removed email address for security), but I never get the confirmation email. I’ve confirmed that email address I’m trying to use works by sending it an email from another domain’s account. I’ve read that the email address can’t be the same email address as another User on this or another site and it’s not. The only thing I can think of that might be an issue is the email I’m trying to use is a Google Group email address and not associated with a specific, single Google User. Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggested fixes?

    I basically have the same question, my website (not live yet) is a wordpress.com site. I originally set it up with my existing email address and have since activate my website specific email address. I’m trying to change my email in user profile
    On my website dashboard. It says it needs to be confirmed. It says I’ll be getting email at new address to confirm change. So far I’m not getting any emails so that I can confirm. What should I do?

    For me, it was a hosting issue. I had to setup SMTP before the outgoing confirmation email would work. For instructions google “setup email” with whatever hosting service you’re using. For example, Google “setup email lightsail” for AWS Lightsail hosted sites.

    Hi @gracepluscoffee,

    Try re requesting for the verification email by opening a new private browsing window and going to https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ scroll to the bottom where it says ‘Trouble Activating?’, enter your email address in the form and click on the Resend Activation Email button.
