changing site name

  I’m trying to change my site name, right now it’s ‘thewanderingchipmonk.wordpress.com, and I want to change it to ‘thewanderingchipmunk.wordpress.com’ (the correct spelling), as this is what matches my blog title, but when I try changing it, it says that ‘this site name is already used’. The problem is, I actually had that site as well, but it had no content, and I have since deleted it (basically I had two websites (chipmunk and chipmonk) and didn’t realize that everything was actually getting published on the ‘chipmonk’ link). Anyways, I have since deleted the empty ‘chipmunk’ website in order to change the address of the other website, but it’s still saying that the ‘chipmunk’ website is in use… any advice???

  If your site is deleted more than 2 years ago it may become available again. Otherwise, you can’t have that same address. You can read more here:

  I suggest purchasing your own domain name and mapping it to your current .WordPress.com site. thewanderingchipmunk.com is available!

  thanks for the reply! I actually ended up changing the name to something slightly different, so all is good. thanks again for the help :)
