Changing site setting from blog to website…
-
Greetings,
I just set up my free WordPress account. When setting up my account it gave me 4 site options to choose from (blog, website, portfolio, and online store). I selected blog. Now that I’ve looked at the layout, I prefer the website option, but I don’t know how to change it. And it is not listed in the settings. Can someone please assist me?
Thank you:)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi plantbasedobia,
There is no need to change a setting for this. It is just to help you when selecting a theme for the first time. You can look through the themes and search or filter on different one to find one that has a layout you like. Just go to “Themes” in your dashboard.
More information on themes can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/
Let us know if you need additional help.

Hello joyinco,
Thank you for assisting :)
The link below wont allow me to change it to a website page, it will only allow me to change the theme or manually customize it to look like a website page.
So, it looks like I have to go in and manually add pages..etc, in order for it to look like a website and not a blog. But if I had started “plantbasedobia” out as a website and not a blog I wouldn’t have to do the manual labor…the theme would already be set up for me. Is there a way to correct this?
For example:
I just set up another account “mysamplepage2017” and from the selection of (blog, website, portfolio, and online store), I selected website. I selecetd the theme “twenty Seventeen.”I went in and changed the theme to “Twenty Seventeen’ on my “plantbasedobia” account that I started out as a blog page.
These two pages look entirely different even though they are the same theme.

Hi plantbasedobia,
Since your site is still empty, it is easy to manually get it back to a “website”
1. In your dashboard, click Customize > Static Front Page. In the “Front page displays” area, click the “Static front page” radio button. Then select your home page and blog page below that. Click “Save”
2. Next, click the back arrow (left of the Save button). That will take you back to the Customize screen.
3. Click the “Theme Options” button. If you want your home page to look just like the second blog you set up, choose the “one column” layout. Then in the pages below, select Home, About, Blog, Contact pages.
That should get you back to where your other site is. Let us know if you have further questions. There is a lot of manual setting initially with any website/blog. The theme documentation will help a lot if you are trying to find a particular setting. Theme documentation for your current theme is here: https://wordpress.com/theme/twentyseventeen

Hi @plantbasedobia,
Just wanted to let you know that one of the staff did reset your site (plantbasedobia.wordpress.com) to the default website state like the demo. They are able to do this for some themes, and Twenty Seventeen is one of them. That should save you some time!
