Changing site URL – Step by step.

    I manage a wordpress site for an organisation that has recently become a registered charity. In order to comply with the charities commission guidelines we need to make some changes including moving to a .org domain. In this specific case the wordpress site needs to move to a subdomain of the new .org domain from it’s current .com address.

    I’ve read some of the wordpress guides on changing the url of a word press via the functions.php which seems straight forward enough, but I was hoping someone who has done this before could give me a step-by-step guide to the whole workflow including the ftp/name-servers side of the process.
