Changing site width

I want to change my site width so it takes up the full width screen but there’s no ‘layout options’ button anywhere in the customizer.
The only options are: Site Identity, Colors & background, Fonts, Header image, menus, content options, widgets, homepage settings, and theme options. How can I make it full-width?WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hey there @adamdickinson203, you’re using an older theme that doesn’t support the new full site editing controls, so there’s really no way to change it without some code. Sometimes they’ll have built-in templates to vary the page layout, but as this particular theme is more for blogging + widgets, it doesn’t have that.
And while you can often use CSS to change a theme if your plan supports that, major layout changes are notoriously tricky.
Would you be interested in switching to a newer theme? If so, this video guide may help get you started:

Thanks very much, I’m using the Canard theme right now, how do we see which themes are new enough to edit that?
