Changing size of images read via email

  The default width for images for my theme is 774. I’ve noticed if someone subscribes via wordpress to get posts by email, the pictures are sized at 560 width, however, they appear blurry. (This is when viewing via gmail.) Is there any way to make the pictures clear? I don’t mind if they are sized smaller, but they do not appear to be scaled properly.
