Changing size of textbox

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t even know enough coding to put what I want in here (an image of exactly what I’m talking about). If you visit vvcg.org, you’ll see. I just want to know how to change the size of those text boxes so they don’t block out half the screen.

    Thank you!!!

    Hi @jack2823,

It looks like your question has to do with a self-hosted WordPress.org product (Bluehost.com is your host). These forums offer support for the WordPress.com suite of products. The distinction can be unclear, so you may read more about the differences if you’d like. Many of the settings of the self-hosted flavor fall out of our scope of support. You can find the WordPress.org-specific support you need at WordPress.org’s support site.

With that said, I often try to at least give a direction for a self-hosted user to help get their question answered, but I don’t see anything on your site other than a note that says, “A New WordPress Site Coming Soon!” Given that splash page is hiding the page that shows the text boxes, I can’t offer advice! I’m sorry.

    Good luck!

    Best,
    Jesse

    Hi there,

The site you’re referring vvcg.org is not hosted on WordPress.com.
    Your site is a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

    Name Server: NS1.BLUEHOST.COM
    Name Server: NS2.BLUEHOST.COM

This is a public forum which provides support only for the sites hosted on WordPress.com.

There’s another support forum for WordPress.org self-hosted site, you can navigate to WordPress.org forum using this link:
    https://wordpress.org/support/
You can find WordPress.org support documents here https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

And for app support please check https://apps.wordpress.org/support/

To learn about the difference between the WordPress.com and WordPress.org please refer this article:

    Thanks!!

Thanks, Jesse. Odd thing is I have a WordPress.com account, but not a WordPress.org account, so being directed to WordPress.org seems out of place.

I didn’t realize the site wasn’t live. I just published it, so you can now see what I mean.

    Thank you!

    Hi @jack2823,

The distinction was confusing to me until I read other forum contributors talking about how this forum didn’t support WordPress.org. Like you, I continue to have a WordPress.org install while using my WordPress.com account here and for Gravatar (which you’ll see in your WordPress.org install if you use the same email address as this account). It’s confusing because they’re closely integrated products. If you use a WordPress.org install, you can set up a complete, advanced site and never pay a penny to WordPress.com, even while using features that only Premium and Business customers can use at WordPress.com. There are trade-offs, though. One tradeoff is how the product gets support, which is the issue you’re running into on this forum. Another, for example, is we cannot access any of your server’s settings, and those can create issues for WordPress.org. That’s not what you’re running into right now, though.

I hope that when you create that WordPress.org account, you will get the help you need.

I see your site live now. http://vvcg.org/contact-us/ is still a bit broken; I don’t see any text boxes, but I see the code trying to create them. Get those to show up so people can help you get them formatted how you’d like!

    Good luck!
    Jesse

Your left-handed sidebar also has a typo. It says “resgion” instead of regions.

    Best,
    Jesse
