Changing Slider Size
-
My website features a slider on the home page that cycles through featured images of sticky posts. However, the slider only displays images that are a specific size, and so I am constantly adjusting the size of my images in order to have them appear. I would rather just adjust the size of the slider, since that would save me a lot of time. How can I change this slider size?

How can I change this slider size?
You can’t because we cannot edit the templates underlying our themes. All blogs here wearing the same theme are using the same underlying template found on the live demo site. Example: https://foreverdemo.wordpress.com/ We cannot access and edit the templates as any edits made would impact all blogs wearing the same theme.

Thanks for the response. Are there any themes that have a slider that’s the same size as a Facebook cover photo?
-
What are the exact dimensions you refer to please?
I do not have an answer to that question so I tagged this thread for a Themes Staff assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

I’m not seeing a slider on your page, but with the WordPress Premium Plan (or the Custom Design module), you should be able to change a slider’s properties using CSS.
It’s limited though. Like @timethief says, you can’t edit the underlying templates (the HTML part) and with CSS only, you can only make so much changes.

Are you referring to the slider in Forever?
Facebook says that:
Your Page’s cover photo:
Displays at 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels tall on your Page on computers and 640 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall on smartphonesThat’s a very specific size and I don’t think you’re likely to find a theme with a slider tailored to those exact dimensions.
To make the slider in Forever the equivalent size, the basic CSS would be:
#featured-content img { width: 851px; height: 315px; }..with some additional tweaks needed for centering and to position the slider navigation. If you decide to upgrade your site to have access to Custom CSS and would like further help, feel free to post in the CSS Customization forum.

That is the size I would be looking for. We frequently use the same image on our organization’s Facebook page and our website. Right now we are constantly editing images to make them the proper size for the slider and it often doesn’t look good on the site. If you have any other suggestions for how to solve our issue without upgrading our site, I would very much appreciate hearing them. Thank you for the help provided so far.

Another option is to use images that are more flexible in their display, and then just let the slider crop/resize the images to fit in the slider. Still other option is to use a theme without a slider, and insert one image at the size you need at the top of a static homepage.
-
Or actually the reverse of the first option could work well: create your images for Facebook at the slider size, with no key information at the edges, and let FB crop it as needed. Then upload to the slider normally.

We often have multiple events that we’re advertising for at the same time, which is why a template with a slider was our first priority.
In my experience, when I set a featured image that is not the correct size, the image does not appear in the slider. Am I doing something wrong?

Your image needs to meet the minimum width for Forever’s slider, which is 888px wide.
So yes, that is a bit smaller than the Facebook size. You’ll need to experiment to see which approach works best for you.
