changing slideshow background color & size

    1) I’d like to make my photographs the size of the black box around the photos. I’m using the Surburbia theme (I haven’t posted the slideshow post yet until I resolve this) –
    2) AND I’d like the black box not to be black, but white if I MUST have any ‘box’ around the images.
    I have clicked & saved the white background box in settings>media but nothing changes. I have tried deleting the slideshow then reentering it after this change in settings too – still a black box…

    I’m a newbie at html but can learn!
