Changing slugs/permalinks

  I want to change the permalink to my posts to the name of the posts only, without the date in the URL at all. I am using WordPress.com, the Maxwell theme, and I can’t seem to find where to change it.

  My current first post is:

  https://onschizophrenia.com/2018/04/11/a-matter-of-perception/

  I want it to be:

  https://onschizophrenia.com/a-matter-of-perception/

  I feel stupid for asking this, as I’m sure there must be something obvious I am missing. Any help would be appreciated.

  Hi there,

  You have created two pages for “a-matter-of-perception”.
  If you want to edit the current post to new URL you can follow the below steps:

  Go to My site, Click on Site pages, edit your a-matter-of-perception page and change the url. You will get an option to edit URL just above the html window . Edit the URL and hit on upate button.

  If you want to use your new post created with the URL of https://onschizophrenia.com/a-matter-of-perception/

  You can follow below steps :

  Go to My site >> Themes >> Customize >> Click on your Menu Name
  On clicking you will get an option to add item. CLick on add items and you will get your both pages. You can add your upadate URL page from there.

  I did look at the things you suggested, but I think I may have been misunderstood. I want the default URL for all of my regular blog posts to be the site address and the slug only. (As in the second example above.) I did a Google search, and I’ve found examples where there seems to be a settings menu where you can make this the default behavior. This menu seems to be missing in my current WordPress.com setup.

  Still a little confused, I guess. Thanks for any replies.

  Hi @onschizophrenia,

  on WordPress.com it is not possible to change the post’s default address (permalinks). It will always display the date format before the post title.

  Thanks baldfreud, that answers my question. No big deal, I guess, just a nitpicky thing….
