Changing template name

  I am trying to make a static home page/front page. I’ve created the page titled Home as suggested in the first step. The directions then say to title the template something other than home.php but i don’t see where i can edit this. There is no template drop down on my edit page. This page is still saved under my drafts and not public. How can I fix this before moving onto step 2.

  Instructions that refer to php files are for self-hosted blogs, not wp.com blogs. If you’re talking about a self-hosted blog, you’re in the wrong forum. If you’re talking about the blog linked to your username, the right instructions are these:

  Thank you so much! That was very helpful. Only problem left is that my top navigation still displays 2 “Home” links. How do I remove one?

  Try using a custom menu: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
