Changing Templates

    Hello!
I’d like to change my current template to a new one.
Actually it’s not that difficult, but I need to know one important detail.
Is there a way, to edit a new template in the background and let the ‘old template’ still run until the new template is completely ready to go?
I ask because I chose a new template which has completely other functions and settings than my old one, and so I think to edit it completely will take more than just some minutes.
But I would like to have my website still be functioning while editing.
Is that possible with a child them?
To work in the background on the new and to upload and exchange the themes when the new one is ready to be launched?
Would be great, and I don’t have the pressure to edit it fast because in the meantime my website would be ‘dead’ ;)
    Thank you!!!

  • Hi

It looks like your site is a self-hosted WordPress site and not hosted on WordPress.com. This forum is for WordPress.com sites so it isn’t the right forum for your question.

Rather ask your question in the WordPress.org support forum. There is a great community of WordPress.org users who can probably help you out there.
