Changing templates means re-doing widgets or widgets retain contents?

  If I change template from Andreas ’09 to a non-Andreas theme (like Grid or Vigilance), do my Widgets stay intact with their text and pictures etc?

  If you move from a three column to to two column, the additional widgets that were in the other sidebar will be moved down to the “inactive widgets” section so all you should have to do is drag them back up and to the sidebar.
