Changing Text on Header
-
How do we change the “format” of the Text on our header?
I want to make it larger and make it bolder. Also would like to move it around to the other side of the header image. Thanks,

Do you have a wordpress.com blog? Or have you downloaded wordpress software from http://wordpress.org? I’m asking because the two run on different software and have different support forums. Thus you will get different answers to the same questions.

If you get a custom header you can do this right in the image before you upload it. Otherwise the font of a header is coded into the theme and the only way to change the look of your blog is to learn CSS and buy the CSS upgrade to make tweaks like that.
Because we share a blogging platform here at WordPress.com, any change we make to the underlying template would be made to all blogs using that template. Naturally, staff doesn’t want this to happen so they make that a non-option.

But, like TT, I don’t see a blog for you here at your username. Are you in the right forums?

ok, my blog location is http://www.eventcity.wordpress.com
You’re saying the only way I can change the font is by editing the header photo (by adding the text to it), or by editing the css files??? I saw somewhere there were css files.
Thanks,

You are in the correct forum but we are hop scotching between two threads.
Your blog’s url is http://eventcity.wordpress.com
Please note that there is no “www” in the url and if you use it that will mean that some people on the net and some search engines will not locate your blog.I can give you more information on css customization if that’s the way you want to go. It’s a paid upgrade ($15 per year per blog) and requires that you have previous experience editing css because you have to do the editing yourself.
The other alternative has been described above. You choose a theme that has a customizable header, you shut off the “header text” and upload an image you make with the title you want on it. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/08/which-themes-can-i-add-a-header-image-to/

Just for reference, your link would be http://eventcity.wordpress.com and, yes, you’re in the correct place. Using the ‘www’ bit is incorrect as you’re already using the ‘eventcity’ bit. Note how search engines don’t accept such links as they are incorrect.
But to answer your question, you can modify the design of your header text with the CSS upgrade. Either that or pick a theme that allows you to upload your own header image, ditch the text, and just apply the text and design you want to teh header image.
Hope this helps,

Thanks you guys, this is an incredible forum. I’m glad my company decided to go with WordPress for our main blogs. I have some other questions about “linking” from blogs to blogs and from blogs to pages, and from anywhere to anywhere inside of blogs- but I will create a separate subject support posts for that, so that others can benefit from it.
One last question – Is there a way to save these “Support” blogs that you are sending me?
Thanks so much again!!!

If you look up at your browser bar you will see the url for each of these forum posts. Save it and you can find these posts again easily. Alternatively, you can just remember the title names on the posts and then use the forum searchbox to type the titles into and locate them later.
This next link contains the links to all of the basic resources so you can quickly become independent by finding the answers to your own questions https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=11280
You’re gonna love wordpress. Happy blogging!
