Changing the account’s owner
-
How can we change the owner of the WordPress account that I administer but do not own? The original owner no longer wants to have that responsibility, for payment, for example.

You can transfer ownership of a site or blog to another WordPress.com account by following the steps in this guide, https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

Hi there,
I think you mean site, rather than account, correct? Account refers to your username you use to log into WordPress.com, and then you can own one or more sites under that account.
The current owner of a site can transfer ownership to a different WordPress.com account as explained here:
https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
This will make the new account the owner of the site, and also any upgrades for the site that were bought by the original owner. It will not transfer billing details to the new account – the new owner, i.e. you, will need to re-enable automatic renewal with your own payment details after the site has been transferred to you.
Let me know if you have any questions about this process.
