Changing the blog address duplicates the site

Currently, I am using one website. I wanted to split the website into two: 1. business, 2. blogging. I wanted the original address to be the address of my business site. On the other hand, the blogging site will have an additional ‘-notes.wordpress.com’ in it.

    My plan was the following:
    1. Change the original site’s address to ‘—-notes.wordpress.com’ (for the blog)
    2. Create a new site using the original address. (for business)

The problem Is, when I changed my original site’s address, it simply just created a duplicate site. Whatever I do there (change theme, etc) happens to the other. So I have two URLS for a single site.

Is this part of a process when wordpress is changing an address or is it something else? Also, can I delete one of the sites without losing the other?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Yes, there is a glitch that is currently duplicating sites when you change blog URLs. However, it appears that you have fixed the issue on your end.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

    Thanks for the response.

Yes, I’ve managed to fix the problem by tinkering with the settings of the original site.

In case somebody else is experiencing the same issue, all I did was to choose a new theme for the original site causing it to reset itself automatically(pages, blogs, media files, etc. are all deleted). I hope that helps.

  • Thanks, that does! I wasn’t aware of that fix. I’ll report that internally.

    Thanks again!
