Changing the colour of the blog template background

I have a wordpress installation on my host and I am currently in the middle of setting it up however I seem to be having an issue with the blog template where my latest posts feed is turning up as white, white text and everything.
I were wondering if somebody could advise me on how I could change the colour of the background (white) to the same colour as the black background?
